In preparation for the East Hawaii Cultural Center's 20th Annual Recycled Art & Trash Exhibit I am submitting "Waves of Refuse". It is a sculptural type piece of art with the designation of "found art". It has similar curving, organic lines representing waves. The rear curve has an indentation that imitates a crashing wave. The white coloration signifies the whitewash of crashing waves. The juxtaposition of chrome metal and the repetitious eliptical slots creates modern or urban overtones to the piece. Also the vertical and horizontal outlines of the planes of metal gives it a rigid or sterile trait associated with man-made modern life. I deem the title upon this piece with consideration to the amount of discarded materials in our environment crashing down upon us in waves.
Sept 14th:
An art class assignment last week challenged me to produce these last twelve images. The subject was the relationship of colors. I used an Impressionistic brush as a component of unity for the series. Each individual design was produce very quickly to avoid overthinking the composition and to get on with the color elements.
Aug 26th:

Not every day's art piece will be necessarily a subject study. As you can see for this date it's a medium study. Just as an artist needs to study elements of art and principles of design he should also develop medium studies.
July 11th:
Any image file with a "PM" in the title will indicate an image aided by photographic manipulation. This will not be my normal or personal line of artistic work but rather a service for my clients in photography projects.

Thanks to a new program called Colors I can now use my Nintendo DS portable gaming console as a digital sketchbook. The bonus part is that it has a replay function. Maybe this is a toy or maybe this can be a tool. This remains to be seen.

A very large majority of my artwork is freehand work. Although I may reference a photograph, I don't manipulate photos or trace them for forms. If I do use a photograph within the actual art product then I will note that in the title.

I named the site Zafle Arts because I thought I might use an alias for my art personality. I since changed my mind but changing the website will come later. I'll probably rename it Carlton Arts.
